It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Elizabeth Rich of Fairfax, Virginia, who passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George O. Swain and Kathryn E. Swain (MacDonald); and her siblings, Michael, Roderick, Ralph Swain and Sandra Brown.
She is survived by: her husband James Max Rich; her children, Sharon of Oakton, VA, Steve of Bethany Beach, DE and David of Stanwood, WA.; her brother Brian "Biff" Swain (Mary) of Herndon, VA.; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Rachel, Caylyn and Tyler.
