He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McGarry and Marcella McGarry; and his brother Joseph McGarry. He is survived by: his wife Robin McGarry; his children, Cristi Aguirre (Juan) and Jason McGarry; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexandra and Marley; and his sisters, Marcella Murphy (Paul) and Kathleen Herbert (Bev). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
