She is survived by: her parents, Peter Furtado and Flora Furtado; her sister Danielle Valentino; her husband Berhanu Bekele; and her children, Emily and Alexander. She is also survived by extended family, friends.
Michele went on to serve as a program manager at the Hartwood Foundation, and later as a residential supervisor with Loudoun County Community Services Board.
