He was loved and cherished by many people including: his pet Rusty; his siblings, Brandice and Aran; his cousin Brennan Downey; and his siblings' children, Sarah, Davita Wrone and Lucas Canes.

He also worked for the Library of Congress and later at the US-China Policy Foundation.
