We bid farewell to Major R. Thompson of Farmville, Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on November 21, 2025 at the age of 91. Major touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Trigg Thompson and Lala Thompson; his wife Gail C. Thompson; his son Ricky Thompson; and his granddaughter Kyla Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry (Melinda) and Wanda (Jody); his daughter-in-law Kari; his grandchildren, Christopher, Benjamin Thompson and Mandalyn Gillis (Jordan); and his siblings, Marie Hensley and Joseph Thompson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and at 10:00 PM at the Piedmont Church of Christ (1405 N Main St, Farmville, VA 23901). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Piedmont Church of Christ (1205 N Main St, Farmville, VA 23901). A burial was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Trinity Memorial Gardens (22482 Prince Edward Hwy, Rice, VA 23966).
