She was predeceased by: her parents, Hoye Smith and Anna Louise Smith (Heitz); and her sister Mary Susan Fay (Smith). She is survived by: her family Southern Gospel; her husband Robert L. Johnson of Ferrum; her brother Frederick Blake Smith of Belington, WV; her children, Robert B. Johnson (Katrina) of Fredericksburg, Catherine Johnson Spence (Kenneth) of Ferrum and Julia Anne Johnson of Ferrum; her stepson Herrick L. Johnson (Judy) of Altoona, PA; and her foster daughter Kathy Gail Young (Steve) of Columbus, OH. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a niece, a nephew, and several great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 7:00 AM and on Friday, May 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM at the Book Hotel Flora Funeral Service (665 S Main St, Rocky Mount, VA 24151). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
