It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Velma Chaney Cassell of Fieldale, Virginia, who passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Lee Chaney and Bertha Craig Chaney; her husband Troy W. Cassell; and her siblings, Clarence Chaney, Junior Chaney, Vivian C. Cassell, Viola C. Crews and Donald Chaney.
She is survived by: her children, Vickie C. Riddle (Randy), Gary W. Cassell (Kim) and Phillip D. Cassell; her grandchildren, Lynsey R. Damiano, Leslee R. Brown, Kori B. Cassell, Dylan J. Cassell and Cassi C. Hines; her great grandchildren, Thomas Damiano, Claudia Damiano and Dax Franz; and her siblings, Hursel "Gene" Chaney, Troy Chaney, Virginia C. Prater, Barbara C. Frost and Herbert Chaney. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
