He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lewis and Irene Victoria Siron Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Ann Byrd Thompson; his children, Linda Thompson Robertson (Tommy Henley) and Robert "Bobby" Thompson, Jr. (Julie); his grandchildren, Amanda Lewin (John), Robert "Robby" Thompson (Nikki) and Elizabeth "Beth" Lilly (Laura); and his great grandchildren, Kameron, Kelsea, Deegan and Leland. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Henry Funeral Home (1030 W Beverley St, Staunton, VA 24401). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
