He is survived by: his wife Opal Clower Gearhart; his children, Randell Gearhart (Anne) and Angie Vest (Doug); his grandchildren, Brandon Gearhart (Holly), Wyatt Gearhart (Bryce), Matthew Vest (Hannah), Hannah Williams (Jarrett), Shaylee Earles (Chad) and Colby Gearhart (Caileigh); his great grandchildren, Kade Gearhart, Luke Gearhart, Lula Gearhart, Walker Earles, Clay Williams, Hope Gearhart, Hattie Gearhart and Baby Earles; his brothers, Melvin Gearhart (Brenda) and Larry Gearhart (Margaret); and his sister-in-law Betty Clower.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gardner Funeral Home (202 E Oxford St, Floyd, VA 24091). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren (8838 Floyd Hwy N, Copper Hill, VA 24079).
