He was predeceased by : his parents, William George Rothe and Lillian Disch Rothe of Teaneck, NJ.; his wife Louise Becker Brinkerhoff Rothe; his son Russel Sanborn; his siblings, Lillian Elizabeth Smith and Franklin Rothe; and his niece Linda Smith Cashion.
He is survived by : his children, David Sanborn (Barbara) of Washington Township, N. J., Patricia "Pat" Christian of Powhatan and Rev. Carole Rothe-Lilly of Forest; his daughter-in-law Brenda Sanborn of Beaufort, NC.; his grandchildren, Matthew Hansen, Sarah Tyler (Josh), Steven Anderson, Lyn Lawton, David Sanborn and Robert Sanborn; his stepgranddaughters, Dawn LaBryer and Cheri Mazza; and his nieces and nephews, Tamalane Bionelli, Barbara Smith, Alan James Drinkwater (Barbara) of Gordonsville, Leslie Alfred Drinkwater (Beth) of Walton, Stanley Drinkwater of Shrewsbury and Donald Drinkwater (Joyce) of Aiken. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
