Steve Evans, M.A. wrote a sympathy message

“My cousin Joan was the kindest, most decent person I have known in this life. Always cheerful. Possessed of the sweetest disposition. Her smile could (and often did) light up a room. One of my greatest memories from childhood stems from all the cousins getting together at our grandparents' farm in Appomattox and running all over creation. My heart goes out to her children, grandchildren, her brother Warren and his family. With deepest condolences, Stephen Evans.”
