He was predeceased by : his mother Allene A. Hull. He is survived by : his father William S. Hull; his children, Elizabeth and Thomas Hull; his siblings, Joan Stumborg (Jack), Vance Hull (Julie), Susan Hull and Spencer Hull (Robin); his aunts, Marie Hull and Joan Atkinson; his uncle Dick Grein; and his friends, John, Holly, Gloria, Rozanne, Don, Doug, Schaefer and John B. He is also survived by relatives include his many adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens or to a charity of ones choice.
