He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Morris Tinsley, Jr. and Fannie Bernice Padgett Tinsley; his brother Charles Robert Tinsley; his sister-in-law Sylvia Hawkins Tinsley; his parents-in-law, Marvin L. Ragland and Lucy L. Ragland; his brothers-in-law, Richard E. Roberts and Bain F. Allred; and his niece Deborah L. Britt.

He is survived by: his wife Edna Ragland Tinsley; his children, Michael Edward Tinsley (Patricia) and Michele Elaine Disher (Dale); his brother Lloyd Gordan Tinsley (Shirley); his granddaughter Ashley Tinsley; his great grandchild Reid Marion; and his siblings-in-law, Ethel R. Alfred and Marvin L. Ragland Jr. (Gray). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins.
