We are sad to announce that on September 18, 2023, at the age of 87, Melvin Bowling of Forest, Virginia, born in Bedford, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, James Mathew Bowling and Carrie Marie Dellis Bowling; his wife Virginia Owen Bowling; and his brother Robert Bowling. He is survived by : his daughters, Lori Jones (Darrell) of Collinsville and Lana Dove of Forest; his sister Brenda Utley (Donald) of Lynchburg; and his grandchildren, Alyssa Reeves (Chris) of Axton and Andrew Jones of New Jersey.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 21st 2023 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 22nd 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Greenfield Baptist Church (384 Fairmont Rd, Gretna, VA 24557). A burial was held on Friday, September 22nd 2023 at the Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery (384 Fairmont Rd, Gretna, VA 24557).
