He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie G. Bernard, (Pratt) and Walter J. Bernard, Sr.; his wives, Helen Soderberg and Verlee Muller; his son Barry; his siblings, Charles (Charles) and Lorena Troxel; and his nephews, James Bernard, John Bernard, Charles Bernard, Jr. and Ernest Cope.

He is survived by: his daughters, Starla Kraber (Jeff) of Forest, Virginia and Tamara Rapp (Jeff) of Osceola, Wisconsin; and his grandchildren, Jared Rapp, Janae Rapp, Joelle Ritchhart (James) and Jason Rapp.
