He is survived by: his wife Sandra Tomlin Shafer; his sons, Edward Shafer (Rhonda) and Mike Shafer (Becky); his grandchildren, Claire Godley (Cole), Amanda and Meredith Shafer; and his great grandchild Sutton Godley.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
