With heavy hearts, we announce the death of George Thomas Jernigan Jr. of Franklin, Virginia, who passed away on May 12, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thomas Jernigan, Sr. and Elma Holloman Jernigan; his brother Richard Jernigan (Julia); and his siblings-in-law, Linda Jernigan and Everett Jernigan.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Williams Jernigan; his children, Kelli Gillette (Steve) and George Thomas "Tommy" Jernigan, III (Andrea); his siblings, Martha Jernigan (Don), Gail Jernigan, Linda Cartwright (Ray), Judy Mizell (Lin), Gene Jernigan (Nancy) and Steve Jernigan; his grandchildren, T. J. Jernigan (Holly), Jesse Jernigan (Connie), William Jernigan (Kelsey), Alex Gillette (Kaylynn), Zachary Gillette, Shelbi Gillette, Haley Long (Jamie) and Mason Jernigan; his stepgrandchildren, Lee Scott (Shannon) and Jonathan Scott (Taylor); his great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Kaitlyn, Ziva, Bailey, Lexi, Preston, Lillie and Raelynn; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Dean, Harlee and Leafy.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 13770 Noel Rd., Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
