She was predeceased by: her grandmother Pauline Knox; and her son John D. Scales, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband John D. Scales, Sr.; her daughter Amaryah Knox-Scales of Hampton, VA; her stepsons, Emon and Emori Mallory; her parents, Gaythan Lassiter and Bernadette Knox-Lassiter; and her siblings, Nacory Knox (Dee), Renadan Williams (Ron) of Portsmouth, VA, Beonka Holloway of Suffolk, VA and LaQuitta Rogers of Virginia Beach, VA.. She is also survived by four sisters-in-love, three brothers-in-love, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Sr. Memorial Chapel of Engram Funeral Home (1001 Armory Dr, Franklin, VA 23851).
