With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alan Stoelting Helwig (Fredericksburg, Virginia), born in Indianapolis, Indiana, who passed away on December 15, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his grandson Adam Forest McGuiney. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn "Kitty" L. Helwig; his siblings, Dr. Warren Bowman Helwig (Lou) and Ann Gordon (Dave); his children, Alan Randall "Randy" Helwig (Heidi), Allison Lillis (Bob) and Kerry Offhaus (Brian); his stepchildren, Lori McGuiney Craig, Rusty McGuiney (Ljubinka Morgan) and Philip McGuiney (Nicole); his grandchildren, Sarah Helwig (Joe), Laura Simpson (Kyle), Nicholas Lillis, Austin Offhaus, Carter Offhaus, Drew Offhaus, Brandon McGuiney (Shawnna) and Abby McGuiney; his great grandchildren, Colton Simpson, Tanner Simpson and Eli McGuiney; his niece Demby Bowman Banbury (John A.); his grandson Toby Craig; and his great-nephew John "Pierce" Banbury. He is also survived by many nephews, great-nephews, and numerous extended family.
