He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Hester Herndon; his parents, Frank Herndon and Velma Herndon; and his siblings, Shirley Morris (Wilbur) and Wylie Herndon.
He is survived by: his daughter Donna Herndon Gaul (Pete) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; his grandsons, Andrew (Clara) and Phillip (Rachel); his great grandchildren, Lucy and Eloise; his brother Wayne (Donna); and his sister-in-law Bett Herndon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Covenant Funeral Service (10830 Patriot Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22408). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery (5601 Courthouse Rd, Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22551).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Hope Church Cemetery Fund.
