He is survived by: his sisters, Jenifer and Joanna; his wife Ruth Ellen; his sister Jan Morris of Richmond; and his stepsons, David Stephens (Tracy) and Scott Stephens (Kim). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in his memory, he asked that it be to a conservation organization of their preference. His choices were Chesapeake Bay Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, or Association for the Preservation of Civil War Sites.
