She was predeceased by: her parents, Lillian Thomas and Russell Claxton; her sisters, Ruby Heflin and Pat Claxton; and her husband Norman D. Brooks, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, LaDonna Todd (Ray), Daffney Mitchell, Scarlett Martin, Danielle Hall, Vincent Claxton (Brianna), Norman Brooks, Jr. (Tiffany) and Sue Carter (Jason). She is also survived by her niece and nephew; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Janet Lee Brooks.
