He is survived by: his wife Thelma Appleby; his children, Suzanne Creger (Rob) and John Appleby Jr. (Angie); his grandchildren, Bridie Piper (Jake), Maddie Allison (Davey), Riley Creger, Nick Poch, Kole Creger and John Creger; his great grandchild Landon Allison; and his siblings, George Appleby, Charles Appleby Sr. (Maureen), Florence Rich (Gary) and Thomas Appleby (Sylvia). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
