We are sad to announce that, on September 25, 2025, at the age of 78, Joseph Leonard Hart in Fredericksburg, Virginia, born in Somerville, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Joseph may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Anne Downey Hart; his children, Jessica Wakeman Hart and Jason Downey Hart; his daughter-in-law Chloe Lennane Hart (Maltese-Yorkie Teddy); and his brother Eugene Leon Hart. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in law, scads of wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many many friends.
In lieu of flowers, three charities that Joe admired and supported are the American Battlefield Trust, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Or choose your favorite local historic charity – Joe loved his history.
