He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard D. Yates and Frances Yates. He is survived by : his wife Nancy H. Yates; his sister Linda Y. Bolick (Dick); and his stepsons, Clay L. Smith of Nashville and Darrin W. Smith of Caroline County. He is also survived by two grandsons; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
