He was predeceased by: his parents, Phil Surles and Ruby Surles; his siblings, Ted, Jerry Surles and Judy Barnes; and his grandsons, Dylan Irving and Brian Carroll.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Surles; and his children, Wayne Surles (Susie) and Becky Irving (Dewey). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
