He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Kleis and Milred Norwood Kleis; and his brothers, Wendell Kleis, Olney Kleis and Wayne Kleis.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Coggins Kleis; his son Eugene Kleis, Jr.; his sisters, Shelby Kleis Taylor and Patricia Kleis Fitzgerald; and his sisters-in-law, June Kleis, Diane Kleis and Betty Kleis. He is also survived by his cat "Sugar" as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home and Crematory (410 Windsor Ave, Lawrenceville, VA 23868). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Edgerton Memorial Cemetery (120 County Pond Rd, Lawrenceville, VA 23868).
