It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anna Catherine Cockrell of Front Royal, Virginia, who passed away on October 10, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Anna Catherine leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Cockrell and Josephine Ritzer Cockrell; and her husband Gordon Edward Detwiler Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Gordon E. Detwiler Jr. of Front Royal, Charles Nelson Detwiler of Waterlick, Earl Richard Detwiler of Petersburg, Virginia and Jonnie Hicks of Strasburg, Virginia; and her sister Jessie Timmons of Winchester. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A reception will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Maddox Funeral Home (105 W Main St, Front Royal, VA 22630).
