He was predeceased by: his wife Gloria Jean Shifflett; his parents, James Virgil Shifflett and Mary Frances Shifflett; and his siblings, Newman Shifflett, James Virgil Jr. Shifflett, Winona E. Goolsby, Lura Anna Mae Pumphrey, Mary Frances McCauley and Patty Wells.
He is survived by: his brothers, Herschel Shifflett and Cecil Shifflett; and his children, Daniel Shifflett, Mark Shifflett (Sharon), Samuel Shifflett (Judith), Ginger Shifflett Harris (Thomas Harden) and Julie Shifflett Goodwin. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Maddox Funeral Home (105 W Main St, Front Royal, VA 22630). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Rileyville Baptist Church (7044 US-340, Rileyville, VA 22650). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Panorama Memorial Gardens (4917 Strasburg Rd, Strasburg, VA 22657).
