He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Vanover and Cora Vanover; and his pet Peppy. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Vanover (Tera) of Cross Junction and Elizabeth Thiel (Mark) of Middletown, Virginia; his sisters, Joann Chidester of Pittsburg and Janet Compton of Vienna, Virginia; and his granddaughters, Mary Vanover and Lily Thiel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Warren County at 1245 Progress Dr. Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
