He is survived by: his wife Cathy Carpenter of Galax, Virginia; his children, Rebecca (Phillip Farmer), Keshia (Johnny Johnson), Kevin (Amanda Carpenter) and Brad (Natasha Carpenter); his stepson Matthew Payne; his sister Freida; his brother-in-law Tom Loggins of Lexington; his brothers, Ronald (Betty Carpenter) and Larry (Brenda Carpenter); his grandchildren, Montana (Andrew Lineberry), EJ Donithan, Kevin Westmoreland, Gelsey Caudill, Breanna Carpenter, Levi Carpenter and Jaylee Johnson (Lincoln Johnson); and his great grandchildren, Josie Westmoreland and Emory Lineberry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
