He was predeceased by: his parents, Verlin Payne and Goldie Payne; and his wife Brenda Sue Payne. He is survived by: his children, Veronica Lynn Goad of Wytheville, Virginia and Raymond "Snapper" Jr.; his daughter-in-law Valerie Payne of Ararat, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Noah Kenny, Hanson Kenny, Mary Payne and Kierra "Kiakia" Lane.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home (201 W Center St, Galax, VA 24333).
