He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Barnett and Odessa Hawks Payne; and his siblings, Kathy Cooley Wright and Carlos Payne. He is survived by: his brother Joel Dean; his siblings-in-law, Norma Payne and Ron Wright of Galax, Virginia; his nephews, Scott (Kelly Cooley) of Beaufort and John (Miranda Cooley) of Galax, Virginia.; Tammy Meadows of Elkin, Lisa and Bobby Moody of Myrtle Beach.
