She was predeceased by : her parents, Joseph Trent and Mabel Ida Matkins Byrd, Sr.; her husband Earl Morris Christman; and her siblings, Clara Mae LaRue and Joseph Trent Byrd, Jr..

She is survived by : her children, Sonya (Robert Hicks), Denise (Dewayne Mabe), Tim (Teresa LaRue) of Galax, Virginia and Rueben Christman of Galax, Virginia; and her sisters, Darlene Christman of Galax, Virginia and Phyllis LaRue of Galax, Virginia. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
