He was predeceased by : his parents, George Stuart and Edith Stuart; his brother Wade; his sister-in-law Juanita Stuart; his sister Patsy; and his brother-in-law Bill Huffman.

He is survived by : his wife Ruby Caldwell Stuart; his sons, Jeff (Kristin Stuart), Brian (Leigh Stuart) and Tim (Amanda Stuart); his brother Darrell; his sister-in-law Debbie Stuart of Charlotte; and his sisters, Brenda "Penny" Stuartand David Allen of Galax, Virginia and Sue Stuart Vaughn (Benton).
