He was predeceased by: his parents, Harve Rutherford and Sallie Winnie Galyean Rutherford; his wife Jo Ann Rutherford; his grandson Barry Rutherford; his brothers, Harry Rutherford and Rudolph Rutherford (Luella); his half-brother Bruce Jones; and his sisters, Eva Nichols (Louis), Iva Burcham (Archie) and Nina Carico (Mitchell).
He is survived by: his daughter Pamela; his son-in-law Bill Lintecum; his son Dennis Franklin Rutherford; his brother Elder Herbert; his sister-in-law Ruth Rutherford; his grandsons, Travis Lintecum (Sheila) and Gabriel Rutherford (Alyvia); and his great grandchildren, Landon Lintecum, Laken Lintecum and Montana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel (201 W Center St, Galax, VA 24333). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
