He was predeceased by: his parents, John Junior Dent and Vera Powell Dent; and his sister-in-law Hazel Johnson Dent. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Altice Dent; his children, Mary Katherine "Kathy" Sink (Barry) and Jeff Alan Dent (Emily); his grandchildren, Michael Underwood and Sara Pendleton (Jessy); his great grandchild Owen Underwood; his brothers, Donnie Dent and Steve Dent (Kaye); his stepgranddaughter Shaina; his siblings' children, Jeanette Dent (David Beeghly), Stephanie Smith (Eric), Nathan Dent (Erin) and Katilin Dent (Chris); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Brittany Greenwood, Josh Blankenship (Cheyenne), Rylee and Adalee; his close friends, Billie, Martha Hubbard, Mark Hudzik and Yokohama; Madison and Ryder.
