He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Prater and Myrtle Prater; and his siblings, Mary L. Prater, Roy and Elmer Prater.

He is survived by: his sister Betty Hunt; his brother-in-law James Hunt; and his niece Rebecca Cook.
