He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Connelly and Maggie Thomas Connelly; his wife Ada Mae Jackson Connelly; his daughter Barbara Connelly Wheeler; his grandson Tom Wheeler; and his siblings, Russell Connelly Jr., Elna Rose, Hazel Gholson and Shirley Koss.
He is survived by: his son James A. Connelly, Jr. (Ava Jane) of Brookneal; his niece Linda McConnell; Glenn Harrison. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
