She was predeceased by: her parents, Willis Franklin and Evelyn Fowler Franklin; and her pet Tessa. She is survived by: her husband Donnie Brooks; her children, Kevin Brooks (Emily), Shannon Brooks (Lauranda) and Shelby Boardman (Wesley); her grandchildren, Hannah Brooks, Aryn Brooks and Haleigh Boardman; her sister Patricia Lyons; her friends, Don, Lena Morrison and Jeannie Eaves; and her pet Hattie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Cheryl's memory to the Goochland Animal Shelter or the Hanover Humane Society, causes that reflect her lifelong love and compassion for animals.
