He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raleigh Wheat and Agnes McCrary Atkinson; his wife Thelma Grandstaff Atkinson; his children, Paige Jessee (Darrell) and Doug Atkinson (Amy); his grandchildren, Conner Atkinson (Lindsay), Abigail Colvin (Samuel), Sam Jessee, McKenzie Atkinson and Hunter Atkinson; his great grandchild Christian; and his siblings, Patricia Parker, Geraldine Alley and Robert Atkinson. He was also cherished by brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews.
