He is survived by: his brother Dan Hess; his son Eric Hess; his daughter-in-law Ellen; his grandchildren, Courtney Smart and Matthew Hess (Emily Hess); his great grandchildren, Izzie and Marcus; and his stepgrandchildren, Cabell Neterer, Ashby Neterer (Olivia Benbow) and Mills Neterer (Allison Neterer).
