It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Stephen Ellwood (Goochland, Virginia), who passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard J. Ellwood and Mary Ellwood; and his sisters, Kathleen Harker (Ellwood) and Elizabeth Ellwood (Betsy). He is survived by: his wife Becky Ellwood; his children, Brittany Brennan (Sean), Carrie Chandler (Charlie), Joshua Ellwood (Karly), Kaitlin Ellwood (Luke Hintz), Poppy, Avery, Georgia, James and Austyn; and his siblings, Richard Ellwood, Robert Ellwood and Mary Ellen Mitchell (Ellwood). He is also survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, t2t.org, an organization he supported and would be honored to have received donations in his name.
