He was predeceased by : his parents, Sidney B. Cox, Sr. and Estelle Harris Cox; his wife Nellie Mae (Stonnell); his son Michael Wray Cox; and his brother Stewart Lee "Bubba" Cox.

He is survived by : his children, Sidney Barbee Cox, III (Cindy), Robin Cox Petrine (Dave), Lisa Cary Cox and Billy Ottley (Pam); his grandchildren, Brandi Douglass (Kevin), Lindsay Rutherford (David), Brigitte Fanelli (Michael), Marc Petrine, Caroline Petrine, Scout Towell and Sheldon Towell; and his great grandchildren, Nellie Douglass, James Douglass, Sullivan Rutherford, Gabrielle Fanelli, Tess Fanelli and Michael Fanelli.
