He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Evans and Frances Evans of Lynchburg, Virginia.. He is survived by: his wife Sue; his son John Jr. (Tracey) of Yale, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Kayla Rose of Little Rock, AK, Logan Evans of Norfolk, Ashley Tobola (Dalton) of Bastrop, TX and Sharon Rose of Yale. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
