He was predeceased by: his parents, Spiros Giannakopoulos and Asimo Giannakopoulos; his wife Glykeria Anastasopoulos; and his siblings, Kostas Giannakopoulos and Eleni Anastasopoulos.

He is survived by: his sons, Spiros Giannakopoulos (Nikki) and Greg Giannakopoulos (Maria); his grandchildren, Stavros, Despina, Nicole, Alexia, Emma and Glykeria; and his niece Bessie Piperidis (Ilias). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
