“Hi, I don't know if this will reach her family, but I want them to know that I was one of the children who watched the monarchs hatch from their cocoons, dry their wings and fly away on Connecticut Avenue. The Cheshire Cat meant so much to me---my pediatrician's office was in the next building, and if we were good at our appointment, we got to go buy a book. When I am sad, I still think of those monarchs. I can't tell you what it meant to me. I'm so sorry for your loss.”
