He was predeceased by: his parents, William Tinsley and Janie Miller Tinsley; and his siblings, Joseph, William Ham, Helen Saunders and Mildred Terry.
He is survived by: his close friend Barbara King of Seat Pleasant, Maryland; his stepchildren, Kira King of Lynchburg and Denise King of Altavista, Virginia; his siblings, Paul Tinsley (Charlotte) of Roanoke, Virginia and Janette Smith of Java, Virginia; his aunt Mattie Jo Carter of Lynchburg, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Robert Wheat, Jr., Rah-Tia Wheat, Terrel Robinson and Tamara Robinson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
