He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Jimmy" Jackson Smith, Jr. and Colleen Simpson Dalton; and his stepfather Jimmy C. Dalton. He is survived by: his wife Martha Dalton Smith; his son Drew Smith (Beverly) of Ringgold; his sister Sharon Mayhew (Dickie Scruggs) of Chatham; his stepdaughters, Kathy Waller (Chad) of Hurt and Christy Drouin (Chris) of New York; his grandchildren, Keeley Smith, Jaxon Smith, Charlotte Smith, Krista Waller, Nathan Waller (Allison), Will Waller, Jenna Beth Drouin and Ella Drouin; his nephew Jason Mayhew; and his niece Jamie Shelton (Brian).
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Midway Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child Program, P.O. Box 1003 Gretna, Virginia 24557 or to the American Cancer Society.
