He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dewey Mayhew, Sr. and Alice McGhee Mayhew; his wife Marsha Ann Mayhew; and his siblings, Donald Mayhew, Darrell Mayhew, George D. Mayhew, Jr., Forest Mayhew and Ruby Pickral.
He is survived by: his daughters, Dara Mayhew, Dawn Mayhew and England (Dara Mayhew); his sister Marjorie Shelton of Greensboro, NC; and his pet Beau.
